Christos Koukouronas is a 3rd generation farmer, and comes from a traditional family of breeders, having grown up helping his father in his unit for years. His livestock unit was built in 2012 in the area of ??????Nea Efkarpia, Thessaloniki, less than 10 minutes from the Fromagerie ARVANITI.
Christos is now raising about 750 goats and 110 sheep with his wife Dimitra. In the difficult job that is needed, the whole family helps: wife, their daughter Dora, her fiancee and Mirie for the most demanding jobs. Always with the warmth, patience and love for their animals.
Healthy living conditions are regularly monitored by the Pentalofos Veterinary Dept., which is responsible for blood sampling and vaccinations.
Animal grazing takes place all year long from 10am to 6pm in the neighboring pastures regardless of the weather, even with snow!
The animals are milked twice a day, at 7:30 in the morning and at 6 in the traditional way. Milking takes place from December to August and the unit produces 80 tonnes of fresh sheep and goat’s milk annually.
