SARIKA ZOE
KYDONIES, KILKIS
Zoe Sarika has been working professionally, with her husband Giorgos, with their farm for many years, as she comes from a stockbreeding family that kept animals since 1927 in the village Kydonies, Kilkis, just 1 hour away from the Fromagerie ARVANITI.
Two more workers are also employed with daily feeding, milking and grazing, while the father assists avery day in the care of the herd.
Zoe’s 450 animals consist of 380 sheep and 70 goats, whire are checked regularly by Lagadas Veterinary Laboratory, which is responsible for controlling the good health and animal welfare of the area.
In the surrounding areas within 2-3 km of the unit, at Kairak, Mandres and Rema, the animals graze wild clover and oak trees every day. Grazing lasts from 10am to 8pm.
Every morning at 6:00am, they are milked until about 8 oClock and again after their return from the grazing, at 8 in the afternoon.
Our tanks collect daily fresh sheep and goat milk from Zoes livestock unit, about 50 tonnes per year; this year, the unit is expected to increase 15% in milk production.
We are proud of our farmers.
