Proud of our farmers – MANIOS DIMITRIS

MANIOS DIMITRIS

MICHANIONA, THESSALONIKI

Dimitris Manios is professionally engaged in livestock farming since 2012.

Due to the financial crisis, he abandoned his previous profession and started with 10 sheep and now exceeds 150.

Two people work daily with feeding, milking and grazing, while his father assists on a daily basis in the care of the herd.

Dimitris sheep are mainly of Chios and Karagouniki tribes, regularly controlled by the Veterinary Office of Vassilika Thessalonikis

which is responsible for auditing the good health and living conditions of the areas animals.

In the surrounding lowland areas of Aeneas, Biologikos and Kataskinoseis the sheep of the herd grazw wild clover, wild berries and cement every day.

Grazing lasts from 12 to 6pm on April-May and in the summer months until September from 8 until 3 oClock, because of the high temperatures.

Every morning at 7:00, the animals are milked until 9:30 and again after their return from the grazing, at 7:00pm.

From January to June milking is done twice a day, and then only once.

Our trucks collect every day the fresh sheeps milk from the livestock unit of Dimitris, which reaches 40 tons per year.

We are proud of our farmers.

We are proud of Dimitris.
